Kiters from all over the world are travelling to Ilha do Guajiru for one main reason...it is freakin' windy here. Due to global air currents and the trade winds our spot has one of the longest windy seasons in the world.
You can find 15-35 knots starting in late June and lasting into February or longer. The wind is so consistent that most places offer a wind guarante for their guests...that means you won't get skunked here. We are always 4-8 knots more than Fortaleza with sunnier skiers.
The wind is always side-on shore. This makes it very predictable to launch and ride. The wind starts early at 8-9 am and builds throughout the day until its highest point around 1-3pm. It then slowly drops towards sunset. You may start with a 10-12M kite in the morning, but by lunch you will need to switch to a smaller kite as the wind increases
